Clinical Pharmacology Services, Inc.
Client Business
At Clinical Pharmacology Services, Inc. (CPS) patient care is the core of the practice’s activities. Health information is a rapidly expanding area that presents challenges to all who are involved providers and patients alike. CPS focuses on providing the answers for healthcare related questions while optimizing the patient’s medications to improve their health. They utilize the most current references, literature and electronic databases to bring patients the answers they need concerning their healthcare issues. Their services focus on medication consults, drug interaction screening, drug information services, and the coordination of therapy and information with prescribers.
CPS is also a “high enrolling” site for industry sponsored clinical research. Their pharmacists’ roles have been as the Principal Investigator (PI) and Sub-Investigator for these clinical trials. CPS normally coordinates with physicians, pharmacists and other health care providers to build a research team for a given protocol. Their clinical research model includes Phase I-IV Clinical Trials, a diverse therapeutic focus and they have conducted clinical trials in both an inpatient and outpatient research setting. The combination of clinical research and patient care services enables CPS to offer patients progressive disease treatment solutions.
In addition to working with patients, physicians and other health care professionals, Dr. Daniel E. Buffington, President and CEO, receives requests from attorneys nationwide to give his expert opinion in legal matters relating to medication errors, toxicology, drug interaction, etc., in both civil and criminal cases as well as medical malpractice lawsuits.
Business Challenge
CPS had several solutions in place to monitor each aspect of their diverse clinical practice, however none of the solutions provided the reporting and detailed tracking that they required.
